What is Friends of IMA

Friends of IMA is a registered charity with registration number NIC 108671 under the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland, Friends of the Indian Missionary Society, came into existence on October 24, 2022, to support the mission activities of the Indian Missionary Society in Northern India. Fr. Chandran Riymonds, a priest of the Indian Missionary Society (IMS), who has been visiting Belfast since 2006, has been the inspiration behind the charity "Friends of the Indian Missionary Society.".

The purpose of the charity is "the relief of those in need by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship, or other disadvantage.". The Indian Missionary Society is an indigenous missionary congregation of priests and evangelist brothers founded by Rev. Fr. Gasper A. Pinto in 1941 in Varanasi, the holy city of Hindus, in Uttar Pradesh, India. The main charism of the congregation is pioneering evangelization. The members of the IMS are engaged in socio-economic and missionary activities, mostly among the underprivileged and marginalized sections of society in northern India.
